Pharmacological action
Pharmacodynamics:
NiKang is a broad-spectrum antibacterial. Its anti-bacterial mechanism is similar to that of Thiamphenicol, which functions mainly by restraining the combination of 70S ribosome with 50S idene in bacteria, and to inhibit the activity of peptide amide transferase. This will inhibit the extension of peptide chain; Interfere with bacterial protein synthesis and as a result inhibiting the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Pharmacokinetics:
Treatment concentration can be reached 1 hour after intra-muscular injection. Peak plasma concentration can be reached 1-3 hours after intra-muscular injection. Single injection can provide effective treatment plasma concentration between 48 to 72 hours. NiKang can penetrate the blood brain carrier. Its bioavailability is 88.8%. NiKang is mainly metabolized by liver and kidney. Only trace amount is excreted through feces.

Therapeutic indications:
NiKang is a broad-spectrum synthetic antibiotic active against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It can be used to control bacterial disease of swine, chicken and fish caused by susceptible bacteria. It is recommended for use in swine suffering from the following bacterial infection: Contagious pleuropneumoniae, asthma, atrophic rhinitis, swine erysipelas, swine pasteurellosis, yellow scour of newborn piglet, while scour, Escherichia coli, Agarlactia syndrome and other bacterial diseases. It can also be recommended to treat poultry respiratory infection due to Pasteurella multocida.

Administration and Dosage:
For swine and chicken: 0.67ml/10kg, of body weight by intra-muscular injection. Second injection after interval of 48 hours is needed.
For Fish: 0.5-1.0mg / kg of body weight, once a day.

Precautions:
1 Not recommended using in lactating and pregnant animals
2 The volume administered per injection site should not exceed 10 ml
