Y strainer designs are chosen based upon the most severe
pressure and temperature that will be experienced. Industrial strainers are usually expressed
as design limits and they typically exceed the anticipated systems operating
pressure and temperature. Y type strainers are specifically excluded from the
requirements of ASME Section VIII, Division I, under paragraph UI.
Nevertheless, due to the similarity of pressure boundary parts, today`s quality manufacturers use the ASME design for
guidelines. In fact, most of the Y type strainers cast or fabricated can be stamped pressure vessels.


High pressure Y type strainers are recommended for residential and commercial water lines to protect delicate equipment, such as regulators and backflow preventers by filtering blockage causing sediment from the water system.  High pressure Y strainer can be in casted steel, such as carbon steel, alloy steel, special steel etc. Strainer screen size can be 20-600 mesh according to the requirements of the customer. Screen materical can be F304, F316 or inconel.Both flange ends and BW ends are avaiable for pipeline connection.
