Potassium cyanide (KCN) and sodium cyanide (NaCN) are widely used in organic synthesis for the preparation of  nitriles and carboxylic acids, particularly in the von Richter reaction. Potassium cyanide KCN (CAS: 151-50-8) also use for the synthesis of hydantoins, useful in synthetic intermediates, reacted with a carbonyl compound such as an aldehyde or ketone in the presence of ammonium carbonate.

Application:


With sodium cyanide USES the same, can be universal. More highly conductive performance than sodium cyanide in electroplating, plating and meticulous, etc, more suitable for use, but the price is more expensive. Is used to extract gold, silver ore flotation. Heat treatment of steel, manufacturing organic nitrile. Analytical chemistry is used as the reagent. In addition, also used in photography, etching and lithographic, etc.
