Tea polyphenols is a mixture of natural phenolic compounds extracted from tea leaves.Based on the chemical structure,polyphenols are classified into flavan-3-ol,flavan-3,4-diols,flavons and flavonols, anthocyanidin,simple phenols and simple phenolic acid.Flavan-3-ol is a major constituent in tea polyphenols.
Physical appearance of tea polyphenols
Light-green or pale yellow powder; easily dissolved in hot water,ethanol and ethyl acetate.Easily degraded and oxidized under the conditions of alkali&acid,light,high emperature or transition metals.
