When the capacitor discharges, high electrical currents flows through the welding tip. Since the welding tip concentrates the energy at a small spot, high temperature has reached momentarily in this spot. This temperature is high enough to melt the wire or even the enamelled insulator outside the enamelled wire.With the enamelled insulator removed, the welding tip makes contact with the wire. Majority of the current then flow through the wire, heats and melts the wire, thus welding the wire or enamelled wire with the metal underneath.
